Antonio López Aviña

Antonio López Aviña (born August 20, 1915 in Chalchihuites , † February 25, 2004 ) was Archbishop of Durango .

Life

The viceregente for the diocese of Rome , Luigi Traglia , ordained him on October 29, 1939 as a priest .

Pius XII. appointed him Bishop of Zacatecas on June 21, 1955 . The Archbishop of Durango, José María González y Valencia , consecrated him bishop on September 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Manuel Martín del Campo Padilla , Bishop of León , and José Garibi y Rivera , Archbishop of Guadalajara .

He attended all the sessions of the Second Vatican Council . John XXIII appointed him on December 14, 1961 Archbishop of Durango . On March 4, 1993, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
