Josef Tauerer

Josef Tauerer (born March 10, 1820 in Ebenberg, Carinthia ; † 1886) was a Carinthian politician.

Josef Tauerer was a doctor at the Klagenfurt hospital by profession . In 1847 he became tangible for the first time as the founder of the Klagenfurt men's choir.

In the revolutionary year of 1848, Tauerer was a member of the regional committee that was elected by the Carinthian state parliament . In the committee he belonged to the left, democratic wing, together with Joseph Janesch . In this context, the revolutionary camp, in opposition to the liberal camp, which has meanwhile opposed the revolution, is called democratic . In October 1848 he was one of the founders of the Carinthian People's Association , the party of democrats . On October 5, Tauerer was delegated to the Frankfurt National Assembly in a by-election for the Spittal district .

From 1870 to 1886 he was a member of the third , fourth , fifth and sixth Carinthian Landtag, as a representative of rural Upper Carinthian communities.
