Life

After graduating from school, Thuma studied physics at the University of Vienna . In 1891 he received his doctorate on "Air electricity measurements in a balloon". After receiving his doctorate in 1891, he was assistant to Franz-Serafin Exner at the Physico-Chemical Institute until 1893 , and from 1894 he was assistant to Viktor von Lang's Physical Cabinet . Later (1901) he became an adjunct at the German Technical University in Brno .

In 1903 Thuma was appointed Associate Professor of General Physics at the Czech Technical University in Prague . From 1907 he was full professor there . In 1935 he retired .

meaning

In 1893 Thuma developed a "theory of the production of high-voltage currents of higher frequency by means of oscillatory capacitor discharges". This led to the development of metrological methods for a phase instrument for alternating current.
