Josef Tietzen (born August 31, 1933 in Trier ; † January 14, 2019 there ) was a German photographer who published several illustrated books about his hometown and worked as a freelance author for the Trierischer Volksfreund , where he was particularly known for his good reputation. He was seen as an advertising medium and ambassador for the Trier region.

Life

Tietzen initially worked for the Trierische Landeszeitung , which was published until 1974 , from which he was poached in 1966 by the Trierischer Volksfreund and its editor-in-chief Nikolaus Koch . Even after his retirement in 1998, he continued to take photos for Trierischer Volksfreund.

During a reading, Tietzen was thrown at by the actor Curd Jürgens , as he felt disturbed by the appearance of other photographers in his vicinity.

In 2009 Tietzen received the letter of honor from the city of Trier.
