Josef Trenk

Josef Trenk (born September 26, 1946 in Neunkirchen ; † March 9, 2016 in Ternitz ) was an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and employee. Trenk was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1995 to 1996 and 1998 .

Trenk attended primary and secondary school in Ternitz from 1954 to 1962 and then learned to be a painter by 1965. In 1965 he did military service and was a painter and house painter at Steiner from 1963 to 1967. Between 1967 and 1974 he was employed by Schoeller-Bleckmann and between 1974 and 1979 he was employed by Interunfall Versicherung. From 1979 to 1985 Trenk worked as a car salesman for Toyota and worked in the hospitality industry from 1986.

Trenk was a member of the Ternitz municipal council from 1990 and was a city councilor from 1995. He represented the FPÖ from May 8, 1995 to January 11, 1996 and from May 14, 1998 to May 20, 1998 in the National Council.

After Trenk was sentenced to a long prison term in 2002 for fraud with slot machines, he lost his apartment in Ternitz and was initially homeless after his release in 2012. Thanks to the support of Mayor Rupert Dworak , he was given a small community apartment in Ternitz in 2014.

On the night of March 9, 2016, Trenk, who is said to have had heart problems for a long time, died in a coffee house.
