Josef "Joschi" Weidinger (born April 25, 1923 in Ottakring , Vienna , † June 26, 2002 in Vienna), also called Jo Weidin , was an Austrian boxer .

Joschi Weidinger began his boxing career at Westbahn and became a professional after the end of the Second World War . He delivered his greatest fight in 1950 when he defeated Franco-Poland Stefan Olek on points in front of 35,000 spectators in the Prater Stadium and became European heavyweight champion . In 1951 he lost the title in London to the British Jack Gardner . In 1952 he lost to Hein ten Hoff by technical knockout in the third round. A few months later he ended his career due to an eye injury.

Joschi Weidinger later worked as President of the Austrian Professional Boxing Association and Vice President of the WBC .

In 2000 he received the Golden City Hall Man of the City of Vienna. In 2009, Weidingergasse in Vienna- Donaustadt (22nd district) was named after him.
