Josef von Knorr (born March 13, 1746 in Vienna ? † June 1, 1789 ibid?) Was a Habsburg officer and civil servant.

Life

Josef von Knorr was a son of the Imperial Court Councilor Georg Christian von Knorr and a brother of General Christoph Christian von Knorr . From 1762 to 1766 he attended the Theresian Knight Academy and then became an officer. As a captain in the 29th Infantry Regiment, Field Marshal Karl Duke of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel-Bevern ("Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel Infantry Regiment"), he said goodbye to military service and entered the civil service career, where he became a Lower Austrian district administrator of the knightly class.

Like his brother, he was a member of the Prague Masonic Lodge "To the 3 Crowned Pillars" and in 1785 became its treasurer.

The two sons from the marriage with Maria Theresia Edle von Kees (1748–1827), sister of Franz Georg Ritter von Kees , in 1775 , were Bernhard von Knorr (1776–1838) and the State Councilor Josef von Knorr (1782–1839). His granddaughter was the poet Josefine von Knorr (1827–1908).
