Josefa Tomsik

Josefa Tomsik , also Pepi Tomsik , (born August 20, 1945 in Vienna ; † September 28, 2018 ) was an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ). From 1986 to 2004 she was a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council and from 1993 to 2008 a member of the federal party executive.

Life

Josefa Tomsik first learned the trade of a saleswoman, until the birth of her daughter she worked for the Viennese meat works. From 1972 she was employed by the Vienna Regional Health Insurance Fund.

In 1959 she joined the Socialist Youth , later she was active in various functions in the SPÖ in the Vienna district of Brigittenau , among other things as district women chairwoman. In October 1986 she moved into the 13th electoral term in the Vienna State Parliament and City Council , where she served as the second chairwoman of the City Council from April 2001 to February 2004. At the end of February 2004 she resigned from the state parliament in the 17th electoral term ; Elfriede Strobel replaced her at the beginning of March 2004 .

From 1992 to 2007 she was a member of the Vienna State Party Presidium and from 1993 to 2008 a member of the Federal Party Executive Committee. She was also a member of the Vienna Women's Committee, Deputy Chairwoman of the Vienna SPÖ Women and a member of the SPÖ Federal Women's Board.

Josefa Tomsik died in September 2018 at the age of 73.
