Josefine Kratz
Josefine Kratz , married Josefine Kratz-Lohse ( February 1, 1876 in Vienna - July 13, 1906 in Cologne ) was an Austrian opera singer ( soprano ).
Life
Kratz, the daughter of a merchant, was trained as a singer by Rosa von Andrassy-Erl and took the stage for the first time at the Totis court theater in 1895. Her actual stage debut took place in Strasbourg in 1896 as "Mignon". There she met Otto Lohse and became his third wife. She worked in Strasbourg until 1902. In 1901 she also appeared as a guest at the Hofopertheater in Vienna (“Elsa”).
From 1904 she sang at the Cologne Opera House, but died two years later at the height of her career, probably by her own hands. Guest performances have taken her to the court theaters of Mannheim and Karlsruhe and to other leading German theaters.
