The JOSEFS brewery is the first handicapped-accessible brewery in Europe .

history

The JOSEFS brewery was founded in August 2000 as an integration company as part of the workshop for disabled people in the Josefsheim Bigge . This makes it the first handicapped-accessible company for beverage production in Europe. In July 2004 this integration company was spun off as an independent company and traded under the name Josefs-Brauerei gGmbH. Since January 1st, 2012 it has been operating under the name duplio gGmbH / JOSEFS brewery.

idea

In the JOSEFS brewery, jobs were created for people with disabilities. All jobs are subject to social security contributions and thus belong to the primary labor market. After a qualification phase, the JOSEFS brewery offers its employees the possibility of a permanent job under real market conditions.

The machines and systems in the brewery and the bottling area are set up for people with disabilities and thus offer barrier-free workplaces. In contrast to the workshops for people with disabilities (WfbM), the employees of the JOSEFS brewery maintain their jobs through their own work.

Products

The company offers a diverse range of beer specialties and non-alcoholic drinks, all of which are bottled in 0.5 liter swing-top bottles and are also marketed nationwide. The beers were sold under the Josefsbräu brand until 2010, and since then under JOSEFS. The non-alcoholic drinks were sold under the Josy name until 2019 and since then also under the JOSEFS brand.

Non-alcoholic drinks from JOSEFS

  • Fair Orange (orange lemonade)
  • Fair lemon (lemon soda)
  • Fair Cola
  • Fair Cola light
  • Fair Active (Isotonic)
  • Fair apple (apple spritzer)
  • Fair iced tea (peach)
  • Fair water (medium)

Beer specialties

The beers were marketed under the Josefsbräu brand until March 2010. The beers have been sold under the JOSEFS brand since April 2010. The basic concept of the JOSEFS brand was developed by Gregoriodesign from Düsseldorf.

The bock beer is tapped every year on St. Joseph's Day on March 19 and is seasonally limited. In the meantime, the Josefsbräu beer brandy was offered. This was made by the Geistreich fine distillery in Willebadessen from beers from the JOSEFS brewery.
