Josep Caixal i Estradé (born July 9, 1803 in Vilosell in the Comarca Garrigues ; † August 26, 1879 ; Spanish José Caixal y Estradé ) was Bishop of Urgell from 1853 until his death and thus also Co-Prince of Andorra .

In 1847 he was a co-founder of the Catalan publishing house "Libreria Religiosa". As Bishop of Urgell, he succeeded Simó de Guardiola y Hortoneda in 1853 . At the initiative of the Andorran politician Guillem de Plandolit i de Areny, far-reaching political and social reforms were proposed for Andorra in 1866 , which the bishop also gave his approval on April 14th. They provided for a wider participation of the Andorran population in political decisions and came with the approval of Emperor Napoleon III. , the other co-prince of Andorra, came into force three years later. With the end of the French Empire, Napoleon's powers as co-prince fell to the President of France .

Josep Caixal i Estradé died in 1879 at the age of 76. Salvador Casañas i Pagés followed him as Bishop of Urgell and co- prince .
