Josep Miquel Vidal i Hernández

Josep Miquel Vidal Hernández (* 1939 in Maó ; † January 9, 2013 ibid) was a Spanish physicist , researcher and author who came from the island of Menorca .

Life

Vidal studied mathematics and physics at the University of Barcelona , graduating in 1968 with a diploma. 1970 to 1974 he was Professor of Solid State Physics at the University of Barcelona .

Vidal was the founder of the Enciclopèdia de Menorca and since 1977 scientific coordinator of the Institute for Menorca Studies. In 1986 he became a full member of the Catalan Society for Physics, Section Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Since 1991 Vidal has been a member of the Society of History of Science and since 1997 a member of the Board of Directors. He was a full member of the Department of Science and Technology at the Institut Menorquí d'Estudis (IME) from 1986 and was its director until his death.

Since 1998 Vidal Hernández has been a member of the History of Science network. From 1996 to 1999 he was a member of the Academic Council of the International University of Isla del Rey ( Acadèmic de la Universitat Internacional d'Estiu Illa del Rei ). Since 2001 he has been a member of the Academic Council Acadèmic de l'Escola de Salut Pública del Llatzeret de Maó .

Vidal has been a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Catalana since summer 2002 and a member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of the Balearic Islands ( La Reial Acadèmia de Medicina de les Illes Balears ) since 2003 .

He was the author of various collective books and authored numerous medical and historical texts in various magazines.

Vidal was the coordinator for the history of science and technology in the Balearic Islands. He also published several articles on astronomy and meteorology in the Gran Enciclopedia Catalana , the universal encyclopedia History of the Sciences published by Editorial Planeta , Barcelona .
