Josep Tolosa

Josep Tolosa, around 1895

Josep Tolosa i Carreras (Castilian José Tolosa y Carreras , born November 20, 1846 in Girona , † April 28, 1916 in Barcelona ) was a Spanish chess player , chess composer , journalist and non-fiction author. He came from Catalonia .

He was a student of Joan Carbó i Batlle , and teacher of Josep Paluzie i Lucena and Valentí Marín i Llovet . He played chess in the Café del Recreo and the Cafè Anglès and wrote for the magazines Teoría y práctica del ajedrez , La Ilustración and Sportsmen's Club . Josep Paluzie i Lucena published a textbook for chess beginners in 1905, which he dedicated to José Tolosa y Carreras.
