Joseph Agassi (born May 7, 1927 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli academic who deals with logic , philosophy of science and philosophy .

Life

Joseph Agassi studied with Karl Popper and taught at the London School of Economics . He later taught at Hong Kong University , the University of Illinois , Boston University and York University in Canada. At the same time he had a double job at Tel Aviv University .

Joseph Agassi was married to Judith Buber Agassi (1924-2018), a daughter of Margarete Buber-Neumann . He lives in Herzlia .

philosophy

Agassi's main interests are philosophy, metaphysics , politics, and epistemology . He assumes that philosophy must be absolutely rational. For over fifty years he has been studying rationality in the sciences, metaphysics and democratic politics.

Agassi further developed Popper's philosophy, excluding many problems that arise with other philosophers of science, especially that of the choice of theory. It deals with problems of the philosophy of technology such as the decision for a certain approach and the selection of ideas that are worth applying and implementing.
