Joseph Beattie Armstrong

Joseph Beattie Armstrong (* 1850 in Whitehaven , England , † January 26, 1926 in Christchurch , New Zealand ) was a New Zealand botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " JB Armstr. "; earlier the abbreviation “ J. Armstr. " in use.

Live and act

Joseph Beattie Armstrong was the son of John Francis Armstrong (1820-1902), who lived in north-west England, and the née Ann Bowman. Armstrong lived in New Zealand from 1862. He was gardening director in Christchurch . Armstrong died in Christchurch Hospital on January 26, 1926. He is buried in Linwood Cemetery.

Works

Armstrong published several works on New Zealand plants, including in the journal Transactions of the New Zealand Institute (1870, 1872, 1888).
