In 1873 he opened the first specialty house for coffee , tea , wine and confectionery in Munich's Residenzstrasse 13 , opposite the opera .

He was able to establish himself as a renowned dealer in a relatively short time. His customers included the nobility and the court. For the high quality of his products and for his services, he was appointed purveyor to the royal Bavarian court by King Ludwig II .

In 1987 the Eilles company with its 50 own specialist shops was taken over by JJ Darboven from Hamburg . However, Eilles will continue to operate as an independent brand.

In 2016, Arko bought the 35 Eilles specialty stores in southern Germany from JJ Darboven while retaining the name. At the same time, the roasting plant in Wahlstedt was given to Darboven. The previous mixtures should be retained.
