Joseph Franz Xaver Dominik Stalder

Joseph Franz Xaver Dominik Stalder (born March 29, 1725 in Lucerne ; † January 4, 1765 ; resident in Lucerne) was a Swiss composer and priest.

Life

Franz Xaver Dominik Stalder attended the Jesuit College in Lucerne and obtained one of the free places at the Collegium Helveticum in Milan , which were intended for Catholic students from the Swiss Confederation and the Three Leagues . There he studied a. a. Moral theology . In 1749 he was ordained a priest.

From 1750 he studied music a. a. with Giovanni Battista Sammartini . As a composer he worked in Mainz, London and Paris and was Kapellmeister to the Prince of Monaco . From 1762 he was organist in St. Leodegar im Hof in Lucerne, where he also died.
