Guntram Schulze-Wegener

Guntram Schulze-Wegener (* 1965 in Kassel ) is a German journalist and historian .

Life

After four years of service as a regular soldier of the Armed Forces from 1985 to 1989 studied Schulze-Wegener New and Contemporary History, Slavic Philology and Eastern European history at the University of Marburg and the Christian Albrechts University of Kiel . Schulze-Wegener received his doctorate in 1996 with Michael Salewski . In 1998 he began training as an editor at the Schleswig-Holstein newspaper publisher (shz) and in 1999 switched to Pabel-Moewig Verlag GmbH ( Bauer Media Group ). There Schulze-Wegener was responsible for the magazine series “ Der Landser ” and, until 2014, as editor-in-chief for the popular magazine “Militär & Geschichte”. He is now the editor of “Military & History” and the marine magazine “Schiff Classic”, for which he is also editorially responsible (both GeraMond Verlag , Munich). Guntram Schulze-Wegener is the frigate captain of the reserve and was awarded the Bundeswehr Cross of Honor in gold in 2006.

Markus Pöhlmann , research associate at the Military History Research Office , discussed Schulze-Wegener's publication of Illustrated German War History in the review journal sehepunkte in 2010 . D. and former research assistant at the Military History Research Office, discussed Schulze-Wegener's publication Illustrated German War History in the specialist journal Marineforum (12–2010). Walle emphasizes that Schulze-Wegener “presented a fact-based compilation of armed events”, “as it was not previously available”. The volume would not claim to be “a scientific technical account or even a manual of German military history, but is a popular scientific non-fiction book , the contents of which are, however, consistent”. Furthermore, the publication is based “unreservedly on the traditional decrees still valid for the Bundeswehr. This neither glorifies the war nor sees the Wehrmacht as a bearer of tradition, but recognizes the commitment of soldiers who fought for their fatherland in good faith and were not guilty of any crimes.
