The van Geldern family came from the Netherlands . Juspa's son Lazarus was Heinrich Heine's great-grandfather. In 1705, Juspa van Geldern made a significant contribution to the Cologne bank of notes, Banco di gyro d'affrancatione . He received permission from the most important customer of his financial institution, the Elector "Jan Wellem" , to erect a building on Neusser Strasse in Düsseldorf-Unterbilk . The building was built 1709–1712 according to designs by the court architect Jakob Dubois in the Baroque style as a multi-wing residential building with a synagogue and school . In 1772 this building was sold to the Hubertus-Stift , which today belongs to Caritas , because the Hubertus Hospital at that time had been relocated from what was then the city center .
