Joseph Joel Duveen (born April 30, 1843 in Meppel , Netherlands , † November 9, 1908 in Hyères ) was a British antiques and art dealer .

Joseph Joel Duveen was the son of the Jewish trader Joseph Duveen (1820–1877) and his friend Eva van Minden (1812–1864). He settled in Hull , England , in 1866 ; here he married Rosetta Barnett in 1869, with whom he had ten sons and four daughters. He started trading Dutch and Chinese ceramics and antiques. In 1879 he opened a shop in London and was now supported by his younger brother Henry J. Duveen (1855-1918) ("Duveen Brothers"). This was followed in 1886 by a branch in New York, which Henry J. Duveen took over as management, and another branch in Paris. In addition to trading in ceramics, the brothers increasingly specialized in trading in paintings. In 1886 the eldest son of Joseph Joel Duveen, Joseph Duveen (1869–1939), entered the business and was to develop it into the leading painting dealer in Europe and North America.

Joseph Joel Duveen achieved considerable wealth through his art trade and was active as a donor for English art museums. In 1908 he financed the new Turner grand at the Tate Gallery in London. On June 26, 1908, Duveen was knighted as a Knight Bachelor (Sir). He was buried in Willesden Jewish Cemetery , London.
