Joseph Louis Levis (born July 20, 1905 in Boston , † May 20, 2005 in Brighton ) was an American foil fencer .
Life
Joseph Levis took part in three Olympic Games . In 1928 in Amsterdam he finished eleventh in the individual and fifth with the team. At the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1932 , he reached the final round in singles, which he completed with 6: 3 wins behind the unbeaten Gustavo Marzi in silver. He also made it to the finals with the team and received bronze behind France and Italy . Four years later he was eliminated from the individual in the semi-finals in Berlin , while he finished fifth with the team.
Levis was married. His son Roberto Levis took part in epee fencing for Puerto Rico at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich .
