Joseph Lossen

Joseph Gotthard Lossen (born July 11, 1795 in Sayn ; † September 28, 1866 in Kreuznach ) was the owner of the hut.

Joseph Lossen was the son of the hut owner Anselm Lossen (1758–1821) and his wife Maria Gertrud Petronilla née Hoffmann (1768–1823). His brother was the industrialist and MP Karl Lossen . His first marriage was Babette nee Cathrein from Camberg and in 1828 her second wife, Marianne.

The marriage resulted in the son Hermann Lossen (1842–1909), who became a university professor and surgeon in Heidelberg, as well as the hut owners Wilhelm Karl Lossen (1826–1875) and Karl Lossen (1835–1868).

Joseph Lossen attended school in Montabaur and became a mountain enthusiast in the Holzappel mine and later in the Silesian mines. After the death of his father in 1821 he became head of the Emmershäuser Hütte with the Röder hammer and the Gertrudenhammer .

In the March Revolution in 1848 he became captain of the vigilante group in Hasselbach .
