Anselm Lossen

Anselm Philipp Constantin Lossen (born April 16, 1758 in Bonn , † February 21, 1821 in Camberg ) was a German smelter.

Anselm Lossen was the son of the Imperial Legation Secretary Kaspar Philipp Lossen (1701–1760) and his wife Susanna Christina Elisabeth née Stöpler (1721–1769). He married Maria Gertrud Petronilla born Hoffmann (1768–1823) in Oberlahnstein in 1781 .

The three sons Joseph Lossen (1795–1866), Karl Lossen (1793–1861) and Mathias Aloisius Lossen (1797–1885) emerged from the marriage and continued to run the father's company.

Anselm Lossen received his education in the orphanage in Mainz. He studied law , but dropped out. From 1785 he worked as a private tutor in Koblenz and Sayn . In 1790 he became an accountant for the Sayner ironworks . In 1796 he became head of the hut and was later honored with the title of Kommerzienrat .

In 1818 he began to work independently in the Duchy of Nassau . He leased the iron works Emmershäuser Hütte and Michelbacher Hütte and the hammers in Rod an der Weil and Burgschwalbach . He also bought the copper hammer in Neuweilnau and the iron hammer in Hadamar . In Camberg he ran an iron shop.
