Joseph Mifsud

Joseph Mifsud (* 1960 in Malta ) is a Maltese professor of political science and international relations . After the election of Donald Trump, Mifsud was portrayed as one of the central figures in the FBI investigation into the contacts with Russia of the US President Donald Trump's campaign team . The US special investigator Robert Mueller , who investigated Trump for two years, portrayed Mifsud as a Russian agent in his final report .

Life

Joseph Mifsud served as a senior government official for Malta and was involved in the country's negotiations for EU membership . The Malta Times reported that Mifsud had worked for the Maltese Foreign Minister Michael Frendo .

He later directed the private London Academy of Diplomacy and was based in London. According to research by the Guardian , the academy closed in early 2017.

Joseph Mifsud was the head of an election observation mission in Kazakhstan. He attested that the 2015 presidential election in Kazakhstan had met all norms and standards of the European Union.

Mifsud has held unquantified teaching positions at the University of East Anglia and the University of Stirling . Mifsud worked for the Link Campus University in Rome, which is headed by the former Italian Interior Minister Vincenzo Scotti ( Democrazia Cristiana ). Link Campus confirmed that Mifsud lived in an apartment in Rome and that the rent was paid by Link Campus until January 2018. A Roman professor told the Guardian that Link Campus has a reputation for being closely associated with Italian intelligence circles.

Mifsud is a member of the committee of the pan-European think tank European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) .
