Joseph Moroni

Joseph Moroni (born January 10, 1938 in Neuilly-Plaisance ) is a former French rower .

Athletic career

At the 1960 Olympic Games , the French eighth competed in the line-up of Christian Puibaraud , Jean-Pierre Bellet , Émile Clerc , Jean Ledoux , Gaston Mercier , Bernard Meynadier , Joseph Moroni, Michel Viaud and helmsman Alain Bouffard . The French took second place in the preliminary run behind the Germany eighth and qualified for the final with a victory in the repechage. In the final, the German boat won ahead of the Canadians and the eighth from Czechoslovakia. With a gap of 1.73 seconds on the third placed, the French took fourth place ahead of the boat from the United States.

At the European Championships in 1961 , the French eighth competed in the cast of Christian Puibaraud, Jean-Pierre Bellet, Joseph Moroni, Robert Dumontois , Gaston Mercier, Bernard Meynadier, Émile Clerc, Michel Viaud and Alain Bouffard. The French won the bronze medal behind the Italians and the Germans.

The first rowing world championships were held in 1962 . At the premiere in Lucerne , the French eighth started with the cast of Christian Puibaraud, Jean-Pierre Bellet, Jacques Morel , Joseph Moroni, Georges Morel , Robert Dumontois, Bernard Meynadier, Michel Viaud and Alain Bouffard. The Germany eight won the title in front of the boat from the Soviet Union and the French.

At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, there were five rowers from 1962, Dumontois, Meynadier, Moroni, Viaud and Bouffard, plus André Fevret , Pierre Maddaloni , Jean-Pierre Grimaud and André Sloth . The French eighth took second place behind the boat from the Soviet Union. In the hope race, the Italians won ahead of the French, who only reached the B final and finished seventh in the overall standings as the winner of the B final.
