Joseph Patterson
Joseph Patterson ( Joseph Hester "Joe" Patterson, Jr .; * 15 August 1912 in Oklahoma City ; † 23. May 1939 in Portsmouth , New Hampshire ) was an American hurdler , which refers to the 400-meter distance specializes would have.
In 1936 he qualified second in the US eliminations with his personal best of 51.6 s for the Olympic Games in Berlin , where he was fourth in 53.0 s.
As an officer in the United States Navy , he drowned in the diving accident of the USS Squalus .
