Joseph Richard

Joseph Richard (born May 27, 1829 in Arlesheim , † October 7, 1898 there ) was a Swiss politician .

Life

Richard was court clerk in 1844 , district clerk in Arlesheim in 1846 , secretary at the Bern government governor's office in Pruntrut in 1853 and again district clerk in Arlesheim from 1854 to 1866. During the years of the democratic movement, Richard joined the party of order, the so-called Anti, and the Patriotic Association, which, from 1863 to 1866, fought, among other things, the dominance of Christoph Rolle's party in the Basel-Landschaft government council .

From 1866 to 1884 Richard was a councilor and from 1884 to 1896 director of the cantonal penal institution . He also sat on the board of directors of Basellandschaftliche Hypothekenbank and on the supervisory board of Schweizerische Rentenanstalt Zurich .
