Joseph Robert Rodericks

Joseph Robert Rodericks SJ (born June 7, 1927 in Bandra , Bombay , India , † July 14, 2010 in Mumbai ) was bishop of the Jamshedpur diocese in India.

Life

Joseph Robert Rodericks joined the religious order of the Society of Jesus and was ordained a priest on March 24, 1958 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him bishop of the Jamshedpur diocese in 1970 . The episcopal ordination donated him on January 9, 1971 Valerian Cardinal Gracias , Archbishop of Bombay. Co- consecrators were Lawrence Trevor Picachy SJ, Archbishop of Calcutta, and Pius Kerketta SJ, Archbishop of Ranchi.

He held various offices in the Indian Bishops' Conference, including chairing the influential commission for the seminaries. In 1996, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.

He will be buried on July 20th in St. Joseph's Cathedral in Jamshedpur .
