Joseph Vidal

Joseph Vidal (born March 11, 1866 in Marseille , † April 5, 1936 there ) was a French politician. From 1924 to 1936 he was a member of the National Assembly .

Vidal, who came from an old Provencal family, first worked in the wine trade. He was already politically active towards the end of the 19th century and in 1902 was promoted to deputy mayor of Marseille, which he remained until 1919. In 1911 he also moved to the General Council of the Bouches-du-Rhône department . In 1924 he was elected to the National Assembly and was re-elected with an absolute majority in the first round in 1928 and 1932. As a member of parliament he was politically close to Raymond Poincaré . From 1932 he was Secretary of the National Assembly. Vidal died a few days before the parliamentary elections in 1936.
