Joseph Kariyil
Joseph Kariyil (born January 11, 1949 in Arthunkal , Kerala , India ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Cochin .
Life
Joseph Kariyil was ordained a priest on December 19, 1973 .
Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Punalur on March 12, 2005 . The episcopal ordination donated to him the emeritus bishop of Punalur, Mathias Kappil , on May 3rd of the same year; Co- consecrators were Stanley Roman , Bishop of Quilon , and Vincent Samuel , Bishop of Neyyattinkara .
On May 8, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Cochin. The solemn inauguration ( enthronement ) took place on July 5th of the same year.
