The Diocese of Cochin ( Latin Dioecesis Coccinensis , English Diocese of Cochin ) is a Roman Catholic diocese in India with its seat in Kochi .

history

The diocese of Cochin was founded on February 4, 1558 from the diocese of Goa . Out of territorial assignments, the then Archdiocese of Angamalé (1599), the then Mission sui juris Madura (1606), the Diocese of São Tomé of Meliapore (1606), the Apostolic Vicariate of Malabar (1659), the then Diocese of Ceylon (1834) and the Diocese of Alleppey (1952) founded.

It is a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Verapoly .
