John Thattumkal

John Thattumkal SSC (born June 23, 1950 in Arthunkal , Kerala , India ) is the Former Bishop of Cochin .

Life

John Thattumkal joined the religious community of the Society of St. Giuseppe Benedetto Cottolengo and was ordained a priest on August 3, 1974 . He holds a PhD in Canon Law and Private Law .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Cochin on May 10, 2000 . The Archbishop of Verapoly , Daniel Acharuparambil OCD , ordained him bishop on June 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Francis Kallarakal , Bishop of Kottapuram , and Peter Michael Chenaparampil , Bishop of Alleppey .

In 2008 he adopted a 26 year old woman. He was released from his office on October 23, 2008.
