Hüttelberg

The Hüttelberg is a 673  m high mountain in the Fichtel Mountains in Bavaria . The wooded hill is 1.3 km southwest of the village of Grün, a district of the municipality of Röslau in the Wunsiedel district in the Fichtel Mountains (northeast Bavaria) on the northern edge of the Zeitelmoos . An important old road ran from Wunsiedel to Weißenstadt on the southeast side of the mountain .

Surname

In a military map of the Principality of Bayreuth , which was recorded from 1780 to 1790 by the cartographer JFC Hoffmann, the Hüttelberg is referred to as Höllberg. In the immediate vicinity was the Hödles settlement, which is already referred to as öd (= abandoned) in the land register of the six offices of 1499. The hill got its name from this settlement (Hödlesberg / Höllberg). The name Hüttelberg was only adopted later, after a Hüttel family took up residence in the village of Grün.
