Joseph Zobel

Joseph Zobel (born April 26, 1915 in Rivière-Salée , Martinique , † June 18, 2006 in Alès , France ) was a writer.

Joseph Zobel wrote several novels and short stories that mainly deal with social problems. His most famous novel, La Rue Cases-Negres (made into a film by Euzhan Palcy in 1982 ) is a story about a boy raised by his grandmother in Martinique, where slavery no longer exists, but there are still many plantations . Joseph Zobel lived in Senegal for a while , most recently in southern France.
