Josip Čale (born May 6, 1983 in Zagreb , Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian handball player . His body length is 1.90 m.

Čale, who plays for the German club TuS Nettelstedt-Lübbecke (shirt number 6) and plays for the Croatian national team, can be used in many ways in the backcourt ; but mostly he plays in the left back space.

Josip Čale played for RK Agram Medveščak Zagreb from his youth. There he also made his debut in the Croatian first division. With Medveščak he never managed to get past the big rival RK Zagreb , but other clubs also noticed Čale: In 2007 he was signed by the German first division club TuS Nettelstedt-Lübbecke. In his first season with the Ostwestfalen, Čale rose to the 2nd handball Bundesliga .

Josip Čale has so far played 25 international matches for the Croatian national team. For his country he took part in the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Almería and finished second.
