Location of Konfeld in Saarland

Konfeld is a district of the municipality Weiskirchen in the Merzig-Wadern district ( Saarland ). Until May 15, 1936 the official spelling was "Confeld". Until the end of 1973 Konfeld was an independent municipality.

Konfeld is located in the Black Forest high forest in the Saar-Hunsrück nature park . State road 365 runs through the village .

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1237 in a confirmation from Archbishop Theodoric II of Trier . The current church was built between 1854 and 1857. The hall church is entered in the monuments list of the community. The previous building was destroyed by fire in 1852.

After the Second World War , Konfeld became part of the French occupation zone in July 1945 . On July 18, 1946, the French military government under General Kœnig issued the “ Order regarding the connection of municipalities to the administration of the Saar area”. Since then Konfeld has belonged to the separated Saarland .

As part of the regional and administrative reform in Saarland , the previously independent municipality of Konfeld was assigned to the then newly formed municipality of Weiskirchen on January 1, 1974 and has been a local part and municipality since then.

Infrastructure

There is a kindergarten and a primary school in the village .
