Josy Doyon-Hofstetter (born May 12, 1932 in Innsbruck ; † August 24, 2011 in Adelboden ) was an Austrian-Swiss mountain farmer and writer.

Life

Doyon grew up with her grandparents in Tyrol . At the age of seven, she came back to her parents in Innsbruck, alienated. Her parents died in World War II and she was placed in a foster family. There she converted to the evangelical faith. Because the Catholic relatives wanted to bring her back, she was brought to Aeschi near Spiez in Switzerland in 1950 , where she found work in the Tabor children's home. Alice Keller-Hofstetter, a language teacher from Spiez , took her in as an adopted daughter. In 1957 she married Georges Doyon, with whom she later moved to Ladholz between Frutigen and Adelboden and had four children. Adelboden, Frutigland and its inhabitants became their home. There she began to write autobiographicals about the meager life of the mountain farmers and the hard fate of the slate mine workers. Shepherds Without Mercy was the title of her first autobiographical novel, in which she wrote about her time with Jehovah's Witnesses . She was also a member of the Berne Writers' Association (BSV).
