Joubertin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joubertin (synonymous: Jaubertin, Pinot Joubertin, Plant d´Aix, Plant de la Claye and Plant de la Mure) is a red wine variety . It comes from the French Savoy (see also the Savoie wine-growing region ). The high-yielding variety used to be widespread there, today it is rarely found. In the Vin de Savoie appellation, it is one of the permitted secondary varieties.

She is probably better known in Argentina . It was discovered in 1835 by the winemaker Joubertin in a vineyard in La Claye near Grenoble . Until the phylloxera outbreak broke out in the 1870s, the variety was also planted in Burgundy . There they gave the variety the name Pinot Joubertin, a name that has remained in Argentina to this day.

The vigorous variety ripens approx. 15 to 20 days after the Gutedel and produces deep dark red wines , which are often used for blending due to their neutral character .
