The Journal of the Geological Society , abbreviated to ISO 4 J. Geol. Soc. (or JGS for short), was first published in 1826. From 1845 it ran under the name Proceedings of the Geological Society of London with the ISSN  0954-6308 . This number changed to 0375-0450 between 1952 and 1971. In 1971 it became a quarterly publication entitled Quarterly Journal of the Geological Society of London with ISSN  0370-291X .
