Jovan Pavlović ( Serbian-Cyrillic : Јован Павловић; * October 2, 1936 in Medinci near Slatina ; † April 3, 2014 in Zagreb ) was Bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Metropolitan of Zagreb and Ljubljana (1982-2014) and for Italy ( 1994-2011). He was the highest representative of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Croatia since May 20, 1992.

Jovan Pavlović studied in Germany in 1963 after completing his theology studies at the University of Belgrade , including at the Evangelical Academy in Schleswig and the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Kiel and the Catholic Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . He lived in the Benedictine Chevetogne in Belgium Ciney , the Benedictine Abbey of St. Matthias in Trier and Niederaltaich Abbey in Bavaria Niederalteich . He taught in the Orthodox monasteries in Prizren and Krka and joined the religious community in Krka in 1967; In 1969 he became a deacon monk.

In 1977 he was elected Abbot Bishop of the Lepavina Monastery and in 1982 was appointed Metropolitan of Zagreb and Ljubljana.

From 1982 to 1992 he represented the Serbian Orthodox Church in the World Council of Churches . He held numerous mandates in the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
