Joy Alappat
Joy Alappat (born September 27, 1956 in Parappukara , Kerala , India ) is an Indian clergyman and auxiliary bishop of the Catholic Syro-Malabar eparchy Saint Thomas the Apostle of Chicago in Chicago (USA).
Life
After studying at St. Thomas Apostolic Seminary Vadavathoor, Kottayam , he received the sacrament of ordination on December 31, 1980 .
Pope Francis appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of the Eparchy of Saint Thomas the Apostle of Chicago and Titular Bishop of Bencenna on July 24, 2014 . The Grand Archbishop of Ernakulam-Angamaly , George Cardinal Alencherry , donated him episcopal ordination on September 27 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Saint Thomas the Apostle of Chicago, Jacob Angadiath , and the Bishop of Irinjalakuda , Pauly Kannookadan .
