Joyce Bennett

Joyce Bennett ( Joyce Elaine Bennett; born May 11, 1945 in Guildford , Western Australia ) is a former Australian sprinter .

Career

In 1962 she won silver over 220 yards at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth and won the Australian 4-by-110-yard relay. Over 100 yards she was eliminated in the semifinals.

At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, she reached the semi-finals over 200 m and came in sixth place in the 4 x 100 meter relay .

Two years later she was at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston in 1966 fifth over 100 yards and 220 yards and defended her title with the 4-by-110-yard relay.

At the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968, she failed over 400 m in the run and took fifth place in the 4 x 100 meter relay .

She was Australian champion over 220 yards three times (1963, 1964, 1966) and once over 100 yards (1964).
