Jozef Regec
Jozef Regec (born March 29, 1965 in Kežmarok , Východoslovenský kraj ) is a former Czechoslovak cyclist and trainer as well as a Czech politician. He was a member of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic from 2010 to 2016 .
biography
He studied at the Charles University in Prague .
He was also a participant in the 1986 Peace Drive , which ran about 130 km from the exploded reactor in Chernobyl on May 6 (April 26, 1986); so 10 days later. He won this first stage.
Because he underwent treatment for kidney cancer years later, a connection with the Chernobyl disaster is seen as possible.
Regec, who started as an amateur for the Dukla Brno club, won the 1987 annual ranking for the most successful rider of the national cycling association. In 1988 he took part in the Olympic Games in Seoul for the Czech Republic , where he was 10th in the road race.
Jozef Regec was a professional in 1996 with the cycling team TICO from the Czech Republic and in 1997 with the Austrian team Elk Haus . He obtained a trainer license at FTVS UK Praha. In 1999 he was appointed Czech national coach. He held this position until 2004, after which he initially worked as a cycling coach in Austria and then became national coach in the Czech Republic again.
He is Vice President of the Czech Cycling Federation and has a bike service in Černá Hora .
Jozef Regec made a political career as a member of the ČSSD and was elected to the Czech Senate in 2010 as a member of the Blansko constituency. He is also a member of the Černá Hora town council.
He has four children and lives in his constituency, Blansko.
