Juan Jésus Calatayud Sánchez (born December 21, 1979 in Málaga ) is a Spanish football player .

Player career

Juan Calatayud started his career as a footballer with the B-Team of FC Málaga from his Andalusian hometown. There he played as a regular goalkeeper for three years from 2000 to 2003, and was promoted to the first team in the summer of 2003 after promotion to Spain's 2nd division. There he should play half of the games for his team in the next two seasons.

As he hoped for more appearances, Calatayud moved to league rivals Getafe FC in 2005 , but there he was only allowed to play 13 games the following season. The Andalusian dared a new attempt in 2006 when he switched to Racing Santander . There he was initially the second goalkeeper and came to seven missions in 2006/07, before he even relegated to the third goalkeeper in 2007/08 after the commitment of the Swiss national goalkeeper Fabio Coltorti .

In the summer of 2008 he finally left the Cantabrians to sign a contract with the then second division club Hércules Alicante .
