Juan Enrique Carreño

Juan Enrique Carreño (born November 16, 1968 in San Fernando ) is a former Chilean football player . The striker was a Chilean international .

He started his career at Colo-Colo . In 1987 he played for the second division Unión San Felipe and Linares . Then he was with the league rivals Colchagua and Ñublense . In 1990 he moved to Naval de Talcahuano in the Primera División . After a year he went to Cobresal and then to Coquimbo Unido and Everton . With Everton he reached the semi-finals of the Copa Chile 1993 and was second on the scorers list with 13 goals. In the summer he moved to Unión Española . With the club he reached the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores in 1994 . He then played for half a year for the Mexican club UNAM Pumas . In 1995 he returned to Chile, first to Cobreloa and then to Deportes Concepción . In 1998 he was with Huachipato and after a brief interlude with Deportes Iquique went back to Everton. After a positive doping test , he was banned from 2001 to 2003.

Carreño took part in the Junior World Cup in 1987 and reached fourth place with Chile after losing the game for third place against the GDR on penalties. He was appointed to the Chilean national team eleven times between 1989 and 1998 and scored one goal.
