Juan Francisco García (born June 16, 1892 in Santiago de los Caballeros , † November 18, 1974 in Santo Domingo ) was a Dominican composer.

García had cornet lessons with José Ovidio García and learned to play the cello and piano by himself . In 1925 he undertook a trip through Cuba as a piano accompanist for the singer Susano Polanco . Here he met the poet Nicolás Guillén , whose poem Espejo he set to music. It was performed during the concert tour and recorded by Eduardo Brito in New York in 1930 .

In his compositions García took on elements of Dominican folklore, for example in his first string quartet and the Sinfonía quisqueyana , which was premiered in 1941 by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Santo Domingo in the Teatro Olimpia of Santo Domingo. In addition to three symphonies, he composed music for wind orchestra, string quartets and songs.
