Juan Francisco García García (born July 15, 1976 in Valencia ), better known as Juanfran , is a former Spanish football player . Most recently, the full-back played for the Spanish first division club UD Levante .

Career

Juanfran began his career in 1994 in his hometown with suburban club UD Levante . After three years he moved within Valencia the biggest club in town, the FC Valencia . With the Valencianos he won the Copa del Rey , the Spanish Cup in 1999 . With the title he said goodbye to his hometown and moved to Celta Vigo . He played for Vigo for a total of five years and even took part in the UEFA Champions League with the team in 2003/2004 . The season was more than bad and the club was relegated to the second division . Juanfran moved to the Turkish top club Beşiktaş Istanbul . After a season in the Süper Lig Beşiktaş loaned him to the Dutch record champions Ajax Amsterdam for one season . After the loan period expired, the Turks sold him on, this time back to Spain: Between 2006 and 2008 Juanfran played for Real Saragossa .

In summer 2008 he moved abroad again and signed with AEK Athens for two years ; then he returned to the 2010/11 season at UD Levante , where he let his playing career fade away after six years.

National team

On August 16, 2000, national coach José Antonio Camacho appointed Juanfran for the first time in the national team . He made his debut against Germany .

Two years later he was also part of Spain's squad at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea , where he appeared three times. From 2003 he was no longer appointed to the national team and counted a total of 11 missions for the Seleccion .
