Juan López (Cardinal)

Juan López (* 1455 in Spain, † August 5, 1501 in Rome ) was a cardinal of the Catholic Church.

Life

The Spanish native López was from August 1492 to February 1496 Datar of the Pope and from December 29, 1492 to August 15, 1498 Bishop of Perugia . Pope Alexander VI elevated him to cardinal on February 19, 1496 and made him cardinal priest of the titular church of Santa Maria in Trastevere on February 24, 1496 . Since December 23, 1497 Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Carcassonne , he was also Archbishop of Capua on August 15, 1498 and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Perugia on August 15, 1498 . Since January 1501 Camerlengo of the College of Cardinals , the Pope made him archpriest of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican on May 10, 1501 .
