Juan Manuel Medina (born November 16, 1948 in Mexico City , † March 29, 1973 ) was a Mexican soccer player who mainly played in midfield .

career

Medina began his professional career at CF Pachuca , for which he was first used in 1969 in a game of the Mexican football championship . Just two years later, on his debut on February 17, 1971 in a test match against the national team of the Soviet Union, Medina was the first player in the club's history of the Tuzos to play for the Mexican national team . In the final round of the CONCACAF Nations Cup in 1971, held at the end of the same year, Medina played in all the games of the Mexican team that won the tournament undefeated. His last international game played Medina in a friendly on October 12, 1972 played against Costa Rica, which was won 3-1.

Before the season 1972/73 Medina moved to the capital club Cruz Azul and thus belonged to the cadres of the champion team , the end of the season their already in the previous year gained title successfully defended. Medina herself did not live to see this triumph because he was involved in a fatal car accident on March 29, 1973 on the federal highway between Mexico City and Pachuca .
