The Turrite Secca is a right tributary of the Serchio , which flows into Castelnuovo di Garfagnana after a total of 20 km. Classified as Torrente , it flows in the countryside of western Garfagnana , Province of Lucca , Tuscany .

course

The Turrite Secca rises on Monte Macina (1560 m) in the eastern municipality of Stazzema . As the first place it flows through Arni , a district of Stazzema (916 m, approx. 150 inhabitants), and turns to the southeast, where it touches the municipality of Seravezza for 2 km . From here it runs along the provincial road SP 13. After Tre Fiumi , it becomes the border river between Stazzema (a total of 8 km in the municipality) and Careggine . It represents the southern border of Careggine (a total of 6 km in the municipality). At Isola Santa (550 m, approx. 30 inhabitants, the inhabited part belongs to Careggine) the Turrite Secca flows through the reservoir Lago di Isola Santa (dam height 38 m ). Shortly thereafter, the river becomes the border river between Molazzana (a total of 7 km in the municipality) and Careggine, and shortly afterwards to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana (a total of 9 km in the municipality). The river continues here to the northeast and passes the suburbs of the municipality. A few meters south of the center of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, not far from the Rocca Ariostesca , the river crosses the Ponte della Madonna footbridge, named after the church of Chiesa della Madonna . The bridge was built in 1453 at the will of Borso d'Este and connects the Rocca via Via Nicola Fabrizi with the Località Barchetta district. In the Second World War it was destroyed by the retreating German troops and later rebuilt. After the bridge of the state road Strada statale 445 della Garfagnana a few meters southeast of the Duomo dei Santi Pietro e Paolo in the historic city center, the river enters the Serchio as a right tributary.
